The CSYSA will complete the existing Ice Rink Campus which was constructed in 2002. Phase I of the project is planned to include a 26,000sf metal building covering a NHL-size second ice rink that will also provide access for lacrosse, soccer, baseball and other community activities with temporary locker rooms. A second phase of the project is planned for the installation of permanent locker room facilities, expansion and improvement of the lobby area complete with concessions, lounge and public restrooms.

Additional parking requirements have been provided at the common parking lot to the west, which is shared by the Rodeo Grounds. From the exterior, the building will make an architectural statement consistent with that of the existing building by incorporating both historic and contemporary materials and forms found throughout the Howelsen campus.

Plans are well underway, with the city-led project recently awarded $900,000 in surplus 2A lodging tax funds from the City, and a $1 million donation from Michael and Sara Craig Scheckman. Organizers are now entering the second fundraising phase for the multi-use arena, with construction slated to begin by late summer.
